About ME

I have worked in the cosmetics and personal care industry for over 15 years. I started my career at a small contract manufacturer working my way up from a 2nd shift entry level chemist and microbiologist to a formulator in the Research & Development lab. From there, I pursued an opportunity at a global healthcare company in their consumer sector which is where I am currently still employed.

Prior to relocating from the West Coast to the East Coast, I worked weekends at a brewery in their merchandise store. While there, I had the opportunity to learn a LOT about craft beers as well as help out the brewer on occasion taking samples to check the batches.

Both of these industries are still definitely a “man’s world”. My Monday through Friday employer tries very hard to level the playing field but my time working in the craft beer industry at times still seemed in the Dark Ages. Men would come into the store after having a few pints and see (and sometimes comment) on my chest rather than believe I could answer questions about the beers we sold. Thus, the titles of my podcast and this site was born.

Apparently, one is not expected, even in the 21st century, to have both brains and boobs - much less enjoy and have knowledge about beer.

Obviously, there are a few bad apples out there who give a broader population a bad rep. Regardless, I wanted to set out to create a safe space where people from different backgrounds who ended up in STEM careers could share their stories, passions, and advice.

So cheers to all of you who have tuned in!
